Lesson Plan: Sensitivity in Mimosa Plants Biology
This lesson plan includes the objectives and prerequisites of the lesson teaching students how to describe the responses a Mimosa plant will have to being touched and to light/dark cycles.
Objectives
Students will be able to
- describe the shape of a Mimosa plant leaf as being compound pinnate,
- identify the primary rachis, secondary rachises, pulvini, and leaflets of a Mimosa leaf,
- describe the responses a Mimosa plant has to being touched,
- explain how cell turgidity controls the responses to touch,
- describe the responses of a Mimosa plant to light/dark cycles.
Prerequisites
Students should already be familiar with
- plants as living organisms.
