Lesson Plan: Adding Ones to Three-Digit Numbers Mathematics
This lesson plan includes the objectives, prerequisites, and exclusions of the lesson teaching students how to model adding a one-digit number to a three-digit number and investigate which digits in the number change.
Objectives
Students will be able to
- add ones to three-digit numbers with and without regrouping,
- count on in ones to add,
- model addition with place value blocks or counters,
- model addition on number lines.
Prerequisites
Students should already be familiar with
- place value of three-digit numbers.
Exclusions
Students will not cover
- numbers above 1,000.
