Lesson Plan: Respiration: How We Breathe
This lesson plan includes the objectives, prerequisites, and exclusions of the lesson teaching students how to describe respiration in the human body and what happens during inhalation and exhalation.
Objectives
Students will be able to
- describe the process of respiration,
- identify the function of the diaphragm in respiration and describe how it works,
- understand why breathing increases during exercise,
- compare between the inhalation and exhalation processes.
Prerequisites
Students should already be familiar with
- the basic systems of the body,
- the respiratory system organs.
Exclusions
Students will not cover
- the circulatory system,
- cellular respiration.
