Lesson Plan: Proportions Mathematics
This lesson plan includes the objectives, prerequisites, and exclusions of the lesson teaching students how to describe properties of proportions and find the terms, extremes, and means of any proportion.
Objectives
Students will be able to
- determine the properties of proportions,
- define the means, extremes, and terms of a proportion,
- understand that two ratios are equal if the product of the means equals the product of the extremes of the proportion,
- find the missing term of a proportion using the other given terms.
Prerequisites
Students should already be familiar with
- defining the term proportion,
- the constant value of a proportion.
Exclusions
Students will not cover
- decimal numbers in proportions.
