Lesson Plan: Interpreting Relationships by Drawing Straight Lines Mathematics • 5th Grade
This lesson plan includes the objectives, prerequisites, and exclusions of the lesson teaching students how to draw straight-line graphs and interpret the relationships shown.
Objectives
Students will be able to
- plot ordered pairs and draw a straight-line graph,
- use a graph to answer questions about unknown quantities,
- identify rules that relate variables,
- use rules to calculate missing values.
Prerequisites
Students should already be familiar with
- reading and recording coordinates as ordered pairs,
- plotting coordinates.
Exclusions
Students will not cover
- negative numbers,
- equations of lines,
- slopes, gradients, intercepts, and variables,
- proportional or linear relationships.
