Lesson Plan: Introduction to the Respiratory System Science • 4th Grade
This lesson plan includes the objectives, prerequisites, and exclusions of the lesson teaching students how to identify the parts of the respiratory system and describe its function.
Objectives
Students will be able to
- describe the function of the respiratory system,
- identify and describe the nose, pharynx, trachea, and lungs,
- describe how each part of the nose is adapted to its function,
- describe how each part of the trachea is adapted to its function,
- identify alveoli as the site of gas exchange.
Prerequisites
Students should already be familiar with
- the basic systems of the body,
- the levels of organization.
Exclusions
Students will not cover
- the circulatory system,
- cellular respiration,
- the levels of organization of organisms.
