Lesson Plan: Heat Energy
This lesson plan includes the objectives, prerequisites, and exclusions of the lesson teaching students how to describe and predict how heat flows between objects of different temperatures.
Objectives
Students will be able to
- understand that heat is the flow of energy from one object to another,
- understand that differences in temperature between two objects cause heat flow,
- understand that heat energy moves from a hotter object to a cooler object,
- predict the direction of heat flow when given the temperatures of two objects.
Prerequisites
Students should already be familiar with
- temperature as a measure of how hot or cold something is,
- reading temperature in degrees celcius from a thermometer.
Exclusions
Students will not cover
- conduction, convection, and radiation.
