Objectives

Students will be able to

  • read and write five-digit numbers in expanded form,

  • read and write five-digit numbers in terms of place value,
  • decompose five-digit numbers in multiple ways.

Prerequisites

Students should already be familiar with

  • place values of 5-digit numbers,
  • representing 5-digit numbers using visual models,
  • representing 4-digit numbers in standard form, expanded form, word form, and in terms of place value.

Exclusions

Students will not cover

  • comparing or ordering 5-digit numbers.
