Lesson Plan: Converting Capacity: Liters and Milliliters Mathematics • 3rd Grade
This lesson plan includes the objectives, prerequisites, and exclusions of the lesson teaching students how to measure capacity using mixed units, convert between capacities using partitioning, and compare capacities given in liters and milliliters.
Objectives
Students will be able to
- measure capacities in milliliters and liters,
- use that to convert between whole numbers of milliliters and liters,
- use models to partition measurements to convert them,
- compare capacities in milliliters, liters, and mixed measures.
Prerequisites
Students should already be familiar with
- measuring capacity in liters,
- measuring capacity in milliliters,
- place value of four-digit numbers,
- comparing four-digit numbers.
Exclusions
Students will not cover
- decimal notation of measures.
