Lesson Plan: Measuring Angles Mathematics • 4th Grade
This lesson plan includes the objectives, prerequisites, and exclusions of the lesson teaching students how to use a protractor to measure angles in degrees and estimate the size of angles.
Objectives
Students will be able to
- use a protractor to measure angles up to 180 degrees,
- identify angles with a given measure,
- recognize an angle as an acute, obtuse, or right angle,
- estimate the size of an angle.
Prerequisites
Students should already be familiar with
- using degrees and degree notation,
- recognizing acute, obtuse, and right angles.
Exclusions
Students will not cover
- angles greater than 180 degrees,
- drawing angles,
- adding or subtracting angle measures.
