Lesson Plan: Converting and Comparing Time
This lesson plan includes the objectives, prerequisites, and exclusions of the lesson teaching students how to convert from one unit of time to another, including when there is a remainder.
Objectives
Students will be able to
- convert durations in hours to days with and without remainders,
- convert durations in minutes to hours with and without remainders,
- convert durations in seconds to minutes with and without remainders,
- convert mixed measures by converting into the larger or smaller unit,
- compare durations, including mixed measures.
Prerequisites
Students should already be familiar with
- dividing two- and three-digit numbers by one-digit numbers.
Exclusions
Students will not cover
- writing number sentences using the approximately equal to symbol ,
- multiplying and dividing by two-digit numbers.
