Lesson Plan: Converting and Comparing Time

Objectives

Students will be able to

  • convert durations in hours to days with and without remainders,
  • convert durations in minutes to hours with and without remainders,
  • convert durations in seconds to minutes with and without remainders,
  • convert mixed measures by converting into the larger or smaller unit,
  • compare durations, including mixed measures.

Prerequisites

Students should already be familiar with

  • dividing two- and three-digit numbers by one-digit numbers.

Exclusions

Students will not cover

  • writing number sentences using the approximately equal to symbol (),
  • multiplying and dividing by two-digit numbers.
