Lesson Plan: The Fundamental Theorem of Calculus: Functions Defined by Integrals Mathematics
This lesson plan includes the objectives, prerequisites, and exclusions of the lesson teaching students how to apply the fundamental theorem of calculus to find the derivative of a function defined by an integral.
Objectives
Students will be able to
- understand the first part of the fundamental theorem of calculus, the conditions under which it holds true, and its implications,
- use the fundamental theorem of calculus to find the derivative of a function defined by an integral.
Prerequisites
Students should already be familiar with
- the concept of a definite integral,
- antiderivatives.
Exclusions
Students will not cover
- evaluating definite integrals as antiderivatives.
