Lesson Plan: Position, Displacement, and Distance Mathematics • Second Year of Secondary School
This lesson plan includes the objectives, prerequisites, and exclusions of the lesson teaching students how to differentiate between position, displacement, and distance traveled, including problems that use vector notation.
Objectives
Students will be able to
- distinguish between distance traveled and displacement,
- solve word problems involving the distance traveled and/or the displacement of a body,
- find the distance covered and/or the displacement of a body from a given position vector.
Prerequisites
Students should already be familiar with
- position vectors,
- trigonometry.
Exclusions
Students will not cover
- velocity,
- acceleration.
