Objectives

  • complete part–whole models to find the result of subtracting multiples of one hundred from three-digit numbers,
  • subtract a multiple of hundred from a three-digit number without using a model,
  • determine what multiple of one hundred has been subtracted from a three-digit number.

Prerequisites

Students should already be familiar with

  • subtracting ones from three-digit numbers,
  • subtracting tens from three-digit numbers.

Exclusions

Students will not cover

  • column subtraction,
  • regrouping.
