Lesson Plan: Plant Tropisms Biology

Objectives

Students will be able to

  • state the meaning of the term tropism as a response by a plant to a stimulus,
  • describe the importance of phototropism, hydrotropism, and geotropism for a plant,
  • compare the terms negative and positive when related to tropisms,
  • outline simple experiments to investigate hydrotropism, phototropism, and geotropism.

Prerequisites

Students should already be familiar with

  • plants as living organisms.

Exclusions

Students will not cover

  • details of plant hormones other than auxins.
