Lesson Plan: Comparing: Faster, Slower, Earlier, and Later Mathematics
This lesson plan includes the objectives, prerequisites, and exclusions of the lesson teaching students how to compare two durations using the words “faster” and “slower” and compare times using the words “earlier” and “later.”
Objectives
Students will be able to
- identify how many seconds in a minute and minutes in an hour,
- compare two durations using the terms faster and slower,
- compare two times using the terms earlier and later.
Prerequisites
Students should already be familiar with
- measuring activities in seconds, minutes, or hours,
- comparing numbers up to 10,
- reading analog clocks to the hour and half hour.
Exclusions
Students will not cover
- converting between seconds, minutes, and hours,
- elapsed time.
