Objectives

Students will be able to

count forward along a number line (from the subtrahend to the minuend) to find the difference between two numbers,
use partitioning to help subtract across a 10,
apply knowledge of subtracting using a number line when solving word problems.

Prerequisites

Students should already be familiar with

subtracting from two-digit numbers by counting backward using number lines,
partitioning to help with calculations.

Exclusions

Students will not cover

subtracting from three-digit numbers.
