Lesson Plan: Multiplying Two-Digit Numbers Using Area Models Mathematics • 4th Grade
This lesson plan includes the objectives, prerequisites, and exclusions of the lesson teaching students how to multiply a two-digit number by a two-digit number by breaking the numbers apart and using area models.
Students will be able to
- use area models to multiply a two-digit number by a two-digit number,
- understand that there are multiple ways to break a number apart.
Students should already be familiar with
- multiplying a two-digit number by a one-digit number using an area model,
- multiplying a two-digit number by a multiple of 10.
Students will not cover
- column multiplication.
