Lesson Plan: Inequalities
This lesson plan includes the objectives, prerequisites, and exclusions of the lesson teaching students how to interpret and write simple inequalities to represent verbal expressions and check whether the inequality is true or false.
Objectives
Students will be able to
- recall the definition an inequality and recognize how it differs from an equation,
- understand the notation associated with inequalities,
- write simple inequalities from a word problem and vice versa,
- recognize how to determine whether inequalities are true or false for specific values.
Prerequisites
Students should already be familiar with
- solving and working with equations.
Exclusions
Students will not cover
- writing inequalities using set notation,
- solving inequalities,
- systems of inequalities.
