Lesson Plan: Nets of 3D Shapes
This lesson plan includes the objectives, prerequisites, and exclusions of the lesson teaching students how to draw and construct some three-dimensional shapes from their nets and draw the nets of some three-dimensional shapes.
Objectives
Students will be able to
- understand the definition of the net of a shape and construct a three-dimensional shape given its net,
- construct the net of a three-dimensional shape.
Prerequisites
Students should already be familiar with
- two-dimensional shapes,
- three-dimensional shapes, including cubes, cuboids, prisms, pyramids, cylinders, cones, spheres, and hemispheres.
Exclusions
Students will not cover
- the area of a two-dimensional face, surface area, or volume.
