Lesson Plan: Continuous Random Variables Mathematics
This lesson plan includes the objectives, prerequisites, and exclusions of the lesson teaching students how to describe the probability density function of a continuous random variable and use it to find the probability for some event.
Objectives
Students will be able to
- understand the probability density function of a continuous random variable,
- use the probability density function of a continuous random variable to find the probability of some event
- using integration,
- graphically.
Prerequisites
Students should already be familiar with
- continuous random variables,
- piecewise defined functions,
- integration.
Exclusions
Students will not cover
- discrete random variables,
- probability function of continuous random variables that follow specific distribution:
- normal distribution,
- Student’s -distribution,
- exponential distributions.
