Lesson Plan: Linear Functions Mathematics • Third Year of Preparatory School
This lesson plan includes the objectives, prerequisites, and exclusions of the lesson teaching students how to identify, write, and evaluate a linear function and complete its function table.
Objectives
Students will be able to
- identify a linear function,
- evaluate a linear function,
- complete a function table for a linear function,
- find the value of a constant in a linear function given the value of a function at a particular value,
- identify ordered pairs of values that satisfy a given linear function,
- substitute a linear algebraic expression into a linear function.
Prerequisites
Students should already be familiar with
- function notation,
- substituting values into linear expressions.
Exclusions
Students will not cover
- graphing linear functions,
- the domain and range of a function.
