Lesson Plan: Column Addition with Three or More Decimals

Objectives
Students will be able to
- use place value to write addition sums of three or more decimals with up to two decimal places in columns,
- add three or more decimals with up to two decimal places using the column method,
- solve word problems involving adding three or more decimals with up to two decimal places.
Prerequisites
Students should already be familiar with
- adding two decimals with up to 2 decimal places using the column method,
- place value of decimals with up to two decimal places.
Exclusions
Students will not cover
- adding decimals with 3 decimal places,
- sums greater than 100.
