Lesson Plan: Differentiation of Reciprocal Trigonometric Functions Mathematics • Third Year of Secondary School
This lesson plan includes the objectives, prerequisites, and exclusions of the lesson teaching students how to find the derivatives of trigonometric functions, focusing on derivatives of cotangent, secant, and cosecant functions.
Objectives
Students will be able to
- differentiate reciprocal trigonometric functions,
- evaluate the differential of a given reciprocal trigonometric function at a point,
- apply the product, quotient, and chain rules for differentiation to reciprocal trigonometric functions.
Prerequisites
Students should already be familiar with
- the chain, product, and quotient rules for differentiation,
- differentiating trigonometric functions.
Exclusions
Students will not cover
- differentiating inverse trigonometric functions.
