Lesson Plan: Newton’s Second Law: Constant Mass Mathematics • Third Year of Secondary School
This lesson plan includes the objectives, prerequisites, and exclusions of the lesson teaching students how to use Newton’s second law of motion with a particle with constant mass under the action of constant force.
Objectives
Students will be able to
- recall and state Newton’s second law of motion for constant mass,
- find a force, a mass, or an acceleration using Newton’s second law of motion,
- use Newton’s second law of motion in combination with the equations of motion in order to solve problems,
- solve problems using Newton’s second law of motion, where the force or acceleration is given in vector form,
- solve real-world problems using Newton’s second law of motion.
Prerequisites
Students should already be familiar with
- the equations of motion,
- Newton’s first law of motion.
Exclusions
Students will not cover
- Newton’s second law of motion with a variable mass.
