Lesson Plan: Probability: Certain, Possible, Impossible Mathematics

This lesson plan includes the objectives and exclusions of the lesson teaching students how to use the words certain, possible, and impossible to describe the probability of an event occurring.


Students will be able to

  • describe the likelihood of an event as certain, possible, or impossible,
  • say whether an event is more or less likely than another,
  • understand what it means for an event to be random.


Students will not cover

  • representing probabilities with numbers.
