Lesson Plan: Support in Plants Biology

This lesson plan includes the objectives and prerequisites of the lesson teaching students how to describe examples of physiological and structural support in plants.


Students will be able to

  • describe the physiological support of a plant, including changes in turgidity,
  • describe the structural support of a plant, including the distribution of cellulose and lignin,
  • outline the advantages of these methods of support for a plant.


Students should already be familiar with

  • plants as multicellular organisms.
