Lesson Plan: Step Functions
This lesson plan includes the objectives, prerequisites, and exclusions of the lesson teaching students how to define a step function, find its domain and range, and draw its graph.
Objectives
Students will be able to
- understand what a step function is,
- determine the domain and range of a step function given as a graph or an equation,
- relate the equation of a step function to its graph.
Prerequisites
Students should already be familiar with
- the domain and range of a function,
- graphs of constant functions.
Exclusions
Students will not cover
- piecewise functions.
