This lesson plan includes the objectives, prerequisites, and exclusions of the lesson teaching students how to count up to 20 objects arranged in different ways.
Objectives
Students will be able to
- represent quantities up to 20 using pictures,
- count up to 20 objects and recognize that the last number counted is the total,
- understand that the number of objects does not change if they are arranged differently.
Prerequisites
Students should already be familiar with
- counting up to 10 objects in different arrangements,
- the numerals 0–20.
Exclusions
Students will not cover
- counting more than 20 objects,
- comparing groups of objects.
