Objectives

Students will be able to

  • represent quantities up to 20 using pictures,
  • count up to 20 objects and recognize that the last number counted is the total,
  • understand that the number of objects does not change if they are arranged differently.

Prerequisites

Students should already be familiar with

  • counting up to 10 objects in different arrangements,
  • the numerals 0–20.

Exclusions

Students will not cover

  • counting more than 20 objects,
  • comparing groups of objects.
