Objectives

Students will be able to

  • use models to represent the numbers 11, 12, and 13,
  • describe the numbers 11, 12, and 13 in terms of ten ones and 1, 2, or 3 more ones,
  • solve problems where it is necessary to know how to decompose 11, 12, or 13 into ten ones and some more ones.

Prerequisites

Students should already be familiar with

  • making the numbers from 1 to 10,
  • reading and writing numbers up to 20,
  • counting to 20.

Exclusions

Students will not cover

  • modeling numbers other than 11, 12, or 13,
  • number sentences (representing values as additions).
