This lesson plan includes the objectives, prerequisites, and exclusions of the lesson teaching students how to make the numbers 11, 12, and 13 from ten ones and some more ones.
Objectives
Students will be able to
- use models to represent the numbers 11, 12, and 13,
- describe the numbers 11, 12, and 13 in terms of ten ones and 1, 2, or 3 more ones,
- solve problems where it is necessary to know how to decompose 11, 12, or 13 into ten ones and some more ones.
Prerequisites
Students should already be familiar with
- making the numbers from 1 to 10,
- reading and writing numbers up to 20,
- counting to 20.
Exclusions
Students will not cover
- modeling numbers other than 11, 12, or 13,
- number sentences (representing values as additions).
