Lesson Plan: Geometry and Trigonometry in Biology
This lesson plan includes the objectives and prerequisites of the lesson teaching students how to calculate the area, surface area, and volume of simple 2D and 3D shapes and apply this knowledge to biological contexts.
Objectives
Students will be able to
- calculate the area and volume of a given 2D shape,
- calculate the area, volume, and surface area of a given 3D shape,
- calculate the surface-area-to-volume ratio of a given 3D shape,
- apply mathematical knowledge to biological contexts (e.g., calculating the surface-area-to-volume ratio of a cell).
Prerequisites
Students should already be familiar with
- basic math skills.
