Lesson Plan: Number of Solutions of Linear Equations
This lesson plan includes the objectives, prerequisites, and exclusions of the lesson teaching students how to determine the number of solutions of a linear equation in one variable.
Objectives
Students will be able to
- recognise when a linear equation has a unique solution, no solutions, or an infinite number of solutions,
- work out values of parameters in linear equations given the number of solutions.
Prerequisites
Students should already be familiar with
- solving linear equations.
Exclusions
Students will not cover
- simultaneous equations.
