Students will be able to
- outline the importance of reproduction as a key function of organisms,
- state that reproduction usually follows a period of growth by an organism,
- state that reproduction is essential for the continuity of a species and failure to reproduce leads to extinction,
- describe two distinct reproductive strategies among organisms: those with a short lifespan produce many offspring (e.g., weeds and insects) and those with a long lifespan produce fewer offspring (e.g., primates).
