Lesson: Adding and Subtracting Decimals Mathematics • 6th Grade

Students will be able to

• recognize that adding trailing zeros to a decimal value (to the right of both the decimal point and all other digits) does not change its value,
• add multidigit decimals with the same number of decimal places,
• add multidigit decimals with different numbers of decimal places,
• subtract multidigit decimals with the same number of decimal places,
• subtract multidigit decimals with different numbers of decimal places,
• solve word problems involving the addition and subtraction of multidigit decimals.
