In this lesson, we will learn how to use measuring jugs to measure volume in liters and to compare the volumes of objects.

Lesson Plan

Students will be able to

  • define the meaning of volume in relation to capacity,
  • determine whether containers marked in liters are holding more than 1 liter, less than 1 liter, or about 1 liter,
  • estimate whether unmarked containers will hold more than 1 liter, less than 1 liter, or about 1 liter,
  • read volume measurements in liters on a container marked in liters.
