In this lesson, we will learn how to identify and describe the use of instruments for measuring mass and weight.

Lesson Plan

Students will be able to

  • identify a range of scales used to measure mass including a two-arm balance, a two-arm sensitive scale, a one-arm digital scale, and a one-arm scale with a pointer,
  • describe how to measure the mass of a solid object using a two-arm balance scale,
  • describe how to measure the mass of a liquid using a one-arm scale,
  • describe how to measure weight using a spring scale.
