Students will be able to

• define the density of a substance,
• state the formula for density and use it to calculate the density of an object or that of a substance,
• use experimental data to determine the density of a liquid,
• describe why objects float on or sink in water,
• predict whether a substance will float or sink when placed in water,
• recall and describe real-life examples in which density is important.
