Students will be able to
- describe the structures of specialized plant structures including the xylem, phloem, palisade mesophyll, spongy mesophyll, meristem cells, guard cells, stomata, and root hair cells,
- explain how the xylem and phloem are adapted to their functions of transporting substances around the plant,
- explain how the mesophyll cells, guard cells, and stomata are adapted for their functions in photosynthesis,
- explain how root hair cells are adapted to take up water and minerals from the soil.
