Lesson: Rotations about a Point Mathematics • First Year of Preparatory School

Students will be able to

• understand that a counterclockwise rotation is represented by a positive angle and that a clockwise rotation is represented by a negative angle,
• rotate points, line segments, and shapes about points given the center of rotation and the measure and direction of the angle of rotation by constructing an angle,
• identify the image of a point, line segment, or shape after a given rotation,
• understand that rotating an object counterclockwise is equivalent to rotating it clockwise.
