Lesson: Brownian Motion Physics • Second Year of Secondary School

Students will be able to

• distinguish between random motion and predictable motion,
• recognize that, for systems of large numbers of objects that each individually move predictably, the interactions between the objects make each object’s motion effectively random,
• explain why the expansion of a gas that consists of particles in random motion results in diffusion of the gas from regions of higher concentration to lower concentration of its particles.
