Lesson: Irreversible Changes Science
In this lesson, we will learn how to describe and identify irreversible changes.
Amelia is making a cake. She mixed butter, sugar, eggs, and flour together and put the mixture in the oven.
Why is this an example of an irreversible change?
During chemical reactions, new substances are made. Sometimes these new substances are useful to us and sometimes they are not. This photo shows bike gears that have rusted.
Is rusting a useful chemical reaction or not?
Plaster of Paris is used to make models. When the powder is added to water, it makes a hard, white solid. You cannot get the powder back.
Fill in the blank: Making a model from plaster of Paris is an example of change.
