In this lesson, we will learn how to describe the structure and function of the human endocrine system.

Lesson Plan

Students will be able to

define hormones as chemical messengers that travel through the bloodstream to act on target organs,
recall that hormones are released by endocrine glands in the human body,
identify the pituitary gland, pancreas, thyroid, adrenal gland, ovary, and testes in the human body and recall hormones released by these glands,
describe the effects of the endocrine system as slow acting but long lasting.
